SIG Market Dynamics Goals --wajager, Mon, 11 Jun 2007 12:35:22 +0200 reply
Information on the first workshop on Market Dynamics 2006.
Information on the second workshop on Market Dynamics 2007.
In the field of marketing both academics and practitioners show an increased interest for social simulation models that are capable of exploring the dynamics of various types of consumer markets. The more classical marketing approaches, usually based on the general linear model, have contributed significantly to our understanding of the susceptibility of consumers for various types of marketing efforts. However, academics and practitioners recognise that in more complex markets, most notably markets where consumers influence each other and where social motives play a significant role, the classical marketing approaches fall short in identifying critical factors and effective marketing strategies. In a first workshop on Agent-based models of market dynamics and consumer behaviour (Guildford, January 2006) several researchers presented their studies. The success of this meeting convinced us that a regular exchange of ideas may contribute to developments in this field, and may result in a community of academics and researchers from the field (companies) interested in this topic. The purpose of the SIG on market dynamics is to provide a forum (possibly on the ESSA web site) and regular workshops to facilitate the exchange of research methods and questions. The key topic being addressed by this SIG is the exploration of market dynamics and the identification of effective marketing strategies. Hence the SIG on market dynamics is aimed to bridge scientific research and practical demands. As such the SIG on market dynamics is intended to organise a community of scientists and practitioners, aimed at the exchange of ideas and practical challenges. A first meeting of the SIG on market dynamics has been scheduled on August 22, 2007 in Groningen. This will be the day before the start of the Marketing Dynamics Congress.
Membership of this SIG is free, and the benefits relate to being part of a community that is expected to be active in organising workshops, exchanging papers, working on joint proposals and projects.
If you (or your collegues) are interested in joining this SIG on market dynamics please respond to:
