Swarming simulation in the news
In an article about the Iran/US naval encounter last week.
"In a telephone interview, Van Riper recalled that his idea of a swarming attack grew from Marine Corps studies of the natural world, where insects and animals --- from tiny ant colonies to wolf packs --- move in groups to overwhelm larger prey."

Research Associate Vacancy at NCeSS Hub - Ref: HUM/70376
The NCeSS Hub wishes to appoint an Economist, Econometrician, quantitative Social Scientist, or Computer Scientist with extensive experience of working with economic and social scientists, as a Research Associate to extend NCeSS's capacity to contribute to the ESRC's National Data Strategy, which aims to develop a data infrastructure capable of delivering all the data necessary to address current and future research needs in the social sciences. The post-holder will investigate how advanced computing tools and services (in the form of an e-Infrastructure) can encourage and assist economic and social researchers to use (and re-use) quantitative data in addressing their substantive research challenges.
