Muhamud Yunus to receive Herbert Simon Award at ICCS:
The Herbert A. Simon Award will be presented to Muhammad Yunus for his work promoting global development and alleviating poverty through microfinance and the Grameen Bank.
Dr. Yunus will accept the award at the International Conference on Complex Systems, which takes place October 28-November 2 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Arizona State University is recruiting at the assistant professor level for someone doing research in social networks.  The School of Social and Family Dynamics (SSFD), an interdisciplinary unit at Arizona State University (http://www.asu.edu/ssfd), invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position
with a focus on social networks beginning Fall 2008. Applications will be reviewed beginning November 22, 2007.

UCD School of Sociology invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Sociology. The School would particularly welcome applications from candidates with research and teaching expertise that will contribute to the School's strengths in one or more of the following areas: culture and globalisation; gender, socialisation and the life-course; and migration and diversity. Applicants should have a PhD in Sociology or a cognate discipline, experience of teaching in third-level education, and a demonstrated commitment to publishing high-quality research. The Department of Social and Decision Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University seeks candidates to fill a junior-level tenure track  position in computational modeling, complexity, and social  systems.  Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent before  starting employment.  Candidates must demonstrate a strong research  track record and have research interests related to the  computational modeling of complex social systems with strong  quantitative and analytic skills.  Joint appointments are possible  with other units on campus.
