Flaminio Squazzoni
Flaminio Squazzoni is Assistant Professor of Economic Sociology at the University of Brescia, Italy. He is Head of the GECS-Research Group on Experimental and Computational Sociology, established in 2007 at the Department of Social Sciences, University of Brescia, Italy. He is involved in social simulation since 2001, when he started to work to his PhD dissertation. He has been host of the II EPOS Workshop in 2006 and will be chair of the Fifth ESSA Conference, to be held in September 2008 in Brescia. He has been visiting Santa Fe Institute in 2003.
His research interests span both epistemological/methodological issues on social simulation and empirical analyses. He is trying to promote cross-fertilization between social simulation and experimental/empirical social science methods.
He would like to be involved in ESSA to promote more integration and confrontation with other innovative research traditions (i.e., experimental and evolutionary economics, cognitive and behavioural sciences, analytical sociology), at the same time committing himself in everything that could help strenghten the good reputation that the association successfully built in these last years. Finally, he would like to work for promoting and enlarging the voice of the youngest generation of social simulation scholars within the association.
