CfP: Special Session on Hybrid Systems Based On Negotiation and Social Network Modelling, to be held at the 3rd International Workshop on Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Systems (HAIS'08). Burgos, Spain, 24-26 September, 2008. Deadline for papers: 30th April. http://www.dsic.upv.es/workshops/ss01-hais08/

Special Session on Hybrid Systems based on Negotiation and Social Network Modelling

Hybrid Artificial Intelligent Systems (HAIS) try to deal with the complexity of real world phenomena, with a multidisciplinary approach and a plurality of techniques. The complex systems where they are applied cover biology, medicine, management, engineering, humanities... all characterized by the difficulty of modelling their usual problems by classical methods.

In this framework, this special session is aimed at discussing research on HAIS working with social interactions, by using agents or any artificial intelligence technique. Therefore, it will focus on social simulation and dynamic social network systems. It also covers the HAIS with the capability to hold a negotiation about a topic, together with argumentation procedures as a way for reaching agreements during the negotiation process.

Topics

Session encouraged topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Social Networks in HAIS
  • HAIS for Argumentation and Negotiation
  • Agent-Based Social Simulation, specially using soft computing techniques
  • Theoretical approaches with Social Network Analysis (e.g. studies on blogosphere and virtual communities)
  • Applications on virtual social networks (web 2.0, P2P, Orkut, Myspace)
  • Virtual and intelligent games based on artificial societies (like RPGs)
  • Other application domains: blogs, cultural aspects, web's fan club, topic communities, opinion dynamics, diffusion networks, consumer behaviour

Contributions

Original contributions are sought in the area of the topics covered by this special session. All submissions will be refereed by experts in the field based on originality, significance, quality and clarity. Every submitted paper to HAIS'08 will be reviewed by at least two members of the Program Committee.

Papers must be prepared according to the LNCS-LNAI styletemplate (only MS-WORD format) (see: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html) and must be no more than eight (8) pages long, including figures and bibliography.

NOTICE: At least one author of each accepted paper must register in order for the paper to be included in the HAIS 2008 Proceedings.

Contributions must be directly submitted to the chair of this special session.

The best papers of this Special Session will be included in a special issue of the journal:

1. COMPUTATION AND SYSTEMS
Published by the Computing Research Center of the IPN and DGSCA of the UNAM, Mexico
